Frequently Asked Questions
1. When can I take my puppy outside? Your puppy can go outside 2 weeks after he or she has finished all of their vaccines.
2. How many vaccines does my puppy need? Your puppy needs vaccines until they are 16 weeks old. Ideally that means they receive 3 vaccines by the time they are 16 weeks old.
3. What should I feed my puppy? I feed my adults and puppies Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Salmon formula. There is a puppy formula and an adult formula. Puppies should remain on puppy food until they are at least 1 year old. Puppy food contains the extra vitamins and minerals necessary for puppies growing bones, teeth and brain development. I try to stay away from any food or treats that are chicken based; as I find that most dogs have an allergy to chicken. Should I crate train my puppy? When should I start? I highly recommend crate training. Puppies can usually start sleeping in a crate all night around 10-12 weeks old.
4. Should I spay or neuter my puppy? When? If a dog is not going to be bred, it should be spayed or neutered. Leaving them intact allows hormones to rage and leaves them open to infections and cancer. I suggest having females spayed prior to their first heat cycle, sometime between 6 and 9 months of age. Boys can be neutered around the same time.
